Both the natural and civilized worlds establish a context for me to understand my own physical presence and psychological existence.  The search for “self” and emotive qualities of life converge within these contexts and provide the impetus for my work.  By documenting intimate experiences in a public park environment, I am challenged to open up to some kind of unknown experiential relationship with the landscape and the life forms found within.  My videos are a kind of self-surveillance fostering absurdly promiscuous behavior when I am alone, in front of a camera.  These “secret acts” which I conjure as if they exist within a realm of magic, science fiction or spirituality are sincere attempts at self actualization, but more accurately convey the ineffective, naive and pathetic tenderness of a rookie’s efforts.
